What to Expect on Your First Visit
Taking the first step toward better health is important, and our team at Rice Family Chiropractic wants you to feel confident and comfortable from the moment you walk through our doors.
Your first visit is designed to be thorough, informative, and personalized. Our goal is to understand your concerns, explain your options clearly, and help you feel confident about your care plan.
Before Your Appointment
Once your appointment is scheduled, our team will provide any necessary paperwork and instructions so you can complete forms ahead of time if possible. This helps streamline your visit and allows us to focus on what matters most — your health.
If you have insurance, please bring your insurance card and a photo ID so we can verify your information upon arrival.
When You Arrive
When you check in, our team will:
- Welcome you and verify your information
- Make copies of your insurance card and ID if needed
- Give you a brief introduction to our office and services
We want you to feel at ease and understand how our office works before your evaluation begins.
Your Consultation & Examination
You will first meet with one of our chiropractic assistants who will review your paperwork and gather any additional information needed. Vital signs, including blood pressure, may be taken at this time.
Next, you’ll meet directly with your doctor for an in-depth consultation.
This conversation allows us to:
- Understand your current symptoms
- Review your health history
- Discuss your goals for care
- Identify how your condition is affecting your daily life
A focused physical and neurological examination will then be performed to evaluate your spine, joints, posture, and nervous system function.
X-Rays (If Needed)
If clinically necessary, on-site digital X-rays may be taken to evaluate spinal alignment and structural concerns. These images help us determine the most appropriate and safest treatment plan for your specific needs.
Not every patient requires X-rays — they are only taken when medically indicated.
Your First Adjustment
Based on your exam findings, you may receive your first chiropractic adjustment. Adjustments are customized using techniques selected specifically for your condition and comfort level.
Our approach is gentle, precise, and tailored to you.
Reviewing Your Plan of Care
Before you leave, we will:
- Review your findings
- Explain our recommendations
- Discuss realistic expectations
- Answer all of your questions
We believe education is a critical part of the healing process. When you understand what’s happening and why, you can make informed decisions about your health.
If additional time is needed to review findings in greater detail, a follow-up visit may be scheduled to discuss everything thoroughly.
After Your Visit
You’ll receive guidance on how to support your progress at home, including:
- Activity recommendations
- Simple exercises or stretches (if appropriate)
- Lifestyle or posture tips
